Ariel is a registered dietitian and member of the Ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec (OPDQ). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in dietetics at McGill University in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, QC. Following an internship on the eating disorders unit at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, she discovered the influence of diet on mental health and well-being and wanted to further her understanding of this complex relationship.
Ariel specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, where she explores with clients the various mechanisms that maintain eating problems. She received training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), family-based treatment (FBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and use these scientifically-proven approaches in her treatment interventions.
Ariel supports the Health-at-Every-Size® approach in her practice. This movement is about creating a non-judgmental environment where clients explore physical, social and emotional aspects to achieve a meaningful life. The intention is to improve relationships with the body and with food, in such a way to stimulate the pleasure to eat without guilt or shame. This approach allows clients to evolve at their pace in a safe space and it leans towards enhancing one’s body image and self-confidence. Ariel helps clients take steps to lead wholesome lives. Ariel is bilingual in French and English and can communicate in Spanish.
