About Mia
Background
Mia is a registered dietitian who graduated from Université de Montréal and a member of the Ordre des diététistes-nutritionnistes du Québec (ODNQ). Her passion for nutrition began early in her Lebanese household, where food, community, and culinary creativity played a central role. Throughout her training, Mia became increasingly drawn to the intricate relationship between mental health and nutrition, which led her to focus her career on eating disorders. Her previous work as Sööma’s Digital Marketing Coordinator further deepened her understanding of the multi-layered nature of eating disorders and the importance of trauma-informed, respectful, and evidence-based care.
Approach and Training
From early on in her practice, Mia chose to specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, recognizing the profound emotional, psychological, and physical impact these conditions can have on individuals and their relationships with food, body image, and identity. Since then, she has pursued extensive continuing education and specialized training to strengthen her clinical expertise in this area.
Mia’s approach is grounded in empathy, curiosity, and collaboration. She integrates gentle nutrition, weight-inclusive care, and a non-judgmental therapeutic style to support clients at every stage of their recovery. Her work prioritizes helping people rebuild trust with their bodies, reduce food-related anxiety, and cultivate a more peaceful and flexible relationship with eating.
In addition, Mia brings experience in sports nutrition and supports athletes across levels who may be navigating the overlap between performance pressures and disordered eating tendencies. She also holds a particular interest in the intersection of chronic illness and eating disorders, recognizing how medical conditions—such as digestive disorders, diabetes, and cardiovascular concerns—can complicate one’s relationship with food. Mia works thoughtfully to help clients manage these conditions without triggering or reinforcing restrictive or harmful patterns.
Who She Works With
Mia primarily works with individuals experiencing eating disorders and disordered eating, offering a safe, culturally sensitive, and supportive space for healing. She also supports recreational and competitive athletes seeking to nourish their bodies sustainably while strengthening their overall well-being and performance.
Beyond her eating disorder specialization, Mia has experience in digestive health and the nutritional management of chronic conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. She is fluent in English, French, and Arabic and is committed to providing accessible, client-centered care. Insurance receipts are available for her services.
