About Emily

Background

Emily is a registered dietitian and a member of Emily is a registered dietitian and a member of the Ordre des diététistes-nutritionnistes du Québec (ODNQ). She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics at McGill University and also holds an undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts and History from Bishop’s University.

Emily’s interest in nutrition initially developed through her experience as a competitive swimmer, where she observed firsthand the profound impact nutrition can have on both physical and mental well-being. This early exposure, combined with her desire to pursue work that felt meaningful and person-centred, led her to transition into the field of dietetics.

Throughout her academic training, Emily worked as a caregiver for neurodivergent individuals. This experience played a formative role in shaping her clinical interests and introduced her to the complex and often under-recognized intersection between neurodiversity and eating disorders. It was during this time that Emily developed a strong commitment to supporting neurodivergent clients and individuals with eating disorders in a way that is respectful, flexible, and tailored to their unique needs.

Approach and Training

Emily has developed a strong clinical focus on the assessment and treatment of eating disorders, with particular expertise and interest in Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). She is especially drawn to ARFID work due to its complexity, its frequent overlap with neurodivergence, and the need for highly individualized, compassionate care.

She is committed to ongoing professional development in the field of eating disorders and integrates evidence-based approaches into her practice, including Family-Based Treatment (FBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Emily takes a collaborative, non-judgmental approach, working closely with clients and, when appropriate, their support systems to build sustainable and realistic nutrition strategies.

Emily began her clinical career at the Jewish General Hospital, where she gained experience across multiple medical settings, including working with individuals affected by eating disorders. She has also worked in private practice alongside dietitians with expertise in sports nutrition, further strengthening her ability to support clients with diverse and complex nutrition needs.

Who She Works With

Emily works with adolescents and adults experiencing eating disorders, with a particular focus on ARFID and individuals whose eating concerns are influenced by sensory sensitivities, anxiety, or neurodivergence. She is especially passionate about helping clients expand food variety, reduce distress around eating, and develop a more peaceful and sustainable relationship with food.

She also supports clients who are physically active and interested in optimizing their nutrition in a way that aligns with their lifestyle, drawing on her personal interest in Pilates, yoga, Zumba, and barre.

Emily offers services in both English and French and provides insurance receipts.
