About Sana

Background

Sana Ilyas is a supervised therapist currently completing the clinical hours required for registration as a licensed psychologist in Ontario. Having practiced as a psychologist for 4 years prior to immigrating to Canada, She has specialized training in eating disorders, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed therapy. With an M.Phil in Clinical Psychology from Osmania University, Sana brings over five years of experience supporting individuals through evidence-based and compassionate care.

Approach and Training

Her clinical approach integrates elements from Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and narrative therapy. Sana focuses on helping clients develop healthier relationships with food, body, and self, while also addressing co-occurring concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, and life transitions.

Who She Works With

She works primarily with adults (18+) . While Sana does not provide behavioral interventions for neurodevelopmental disorders such as ASD, ADHD in children, or intellectual disabilities, she does support clients with adult ADHD and associated emotional and relational challenges.

Sana is particularly passionate about working with South Asian, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ clients, and her practice is grounded in cultural humility and identity-affirming care. She is fluent in English, Hindi, and Urdu, which allows her to offer therapy in multiple languages and ensure accessibility and comfort for diverse clients.

In addition to individual therapy, Sana has extensive experience facilitating workshops and group therapy, and has worked with students, caregivers, and professionals in both clinical and educational settings. She is dedicated to creating a safe, collaborative, and culturally sensitive environment where clients can explore, heal, and grow.
