My Story : Self-Discovery

Mainstream media and social beauty standards just reinforced my internalized beliefs, which over the years did serious damage to my self esteem and body image.

I had very little compassion for myself when it came to my weight and physical appearance and I realize now what I needed was a gentler approach to how I viewed my relationship with food and my self worth.

This is where Annyck was incredibly helpful. Together we dismantled the notion that diets are a necessary part of life, and the misconception that being overweight meant I wasn’t healthy or worthy of self-love and acceptance by myself and others.

This progress helped me become kinder to myself and more loving of my body.

By introducing me to Intuitive Eating, Annyck has helped me find a way to make peace with food, and nourish my body in my own way without feelings of guilt or shame if my meals didn’t adhere to what I had mistakenly believed to be proper foods, clean eating, or healthy choices.

It’s a continual journey of self discovery and improvement, which I am mindful of each day.

I’m excited to live my thirties enjoying food free from morality and knowing that my size does not define my health or value in society. Diet culture diminished a lot of happiness and self-love in my life and I’m relieved to be free of that burden. I just wish I had worked through this decades ago, so I could have believed it and lived it when I was a young woman. Better late than never!
