About Justine

Background

Justine is a registered dietitian passionate about helping others build or rebuild positive relationships with food. Fascinated by how food nourishes us and brings people together across cultures, she pursued a Bachelor’s in Applied Human Nutrition at the University of Guelph in Ontario, and a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition at McGill University, where she also completed her dietetic internship. She is a member of the Ordre des diététistes-nutritionnistes du Québec (ODNQ).

Approach and Training

With Moroccan and Latvian roots and time spent living in Trinidad and Tobago, Justine brings a rich cultural perspective to her work. She values empathy, respect, and inclusivity, and is committed to creating safe, welcoming spaces for all.

As a non-diet dietitian, Justine practices through the lenses of intuitive eating, body neutrality, and Health at Every Size® (HAES®). Her approach is holistic and grounded in compassion, aiming to meet clients where they are with openness and care. Justine is dedicated to debunking nutrition myths and offering a non-judgmental space where clients can explore their values, challenges, and readiness for change.

She draws on modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Family-Based Treatment (FBT) for adolescents recovering from eating disorders. Her care is trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, and gender-affirming, recognizing the importance of honoring each client’s unique experience.

Who She Works With

At Sööma, Justine supports adolescents, adults, and families across all stages of eating disorder recovery – from those newly diagnosed to those experiencing long-standing challenges. She works with individuals navigating anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and other disordered eating patterns, as well as those seeking support with sports nutrition or body image.

Justine values close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure well-rounded, integrated care. Whether clients are healing their relationship with food or seeking balance in their approach to nourishment and movement, Justine meets them where they are, offering compassionate, client-centered care every step of the way.

Justine is bilingual in English and French, and provides insurance receipts.
